X-Ray Detector Selection Guide

Amptek provides a family of high performance compact X-ray detectors and associated signal processing electronics. Radiation detectors are custom photodiodes, including traditional Si-PIN diodes,_cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_the detectors of derived of silicon (SDD) and CdTe Schottky diodes. The detector is mounted on a two-stage thermoelectric cooled transceiver preamplifier input. Cooler keeps detector and transistor at -25 o_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d reducing electronic noise less cryogenic_C liquid nitrogen and consuming <1W. This cooling enables high performance in a compact and convenient package, and has been instrumental in the development of portable XRF analyzers and high performance benchtop XRF and EDS systems.

Amptek detectors represent the state of the art in X-ray spectroscopy, providing the best energy resolution, the best efficiency at low energies, the highest count rates, the highest peak-to-background ratios, all at a low cost and suitable for systems portable, vacuum systems, etc. They are used by OEMs and by laboratory researchers. The main enabling technologies include the detectors themselves (designed and manufactured by Amptek), low-noise CMOS and JFET technology, and packaging that allows for good refrigeration in one robust system. Amptek has several different basic detectors in this family, sharing the core technology but optimized for different applications.

The schematic above illustrates a detector mounted on a thermoelectric cooler, in a TO-8 header. The input FET and other components are also mounted on the cooler. A The nickel cover (also shown) is vacuum brazed to the TO-8 header inside the cabinet for optimal cooling. There is a window in the cover (shown in dark blue above) to allow for detección de rayos X suaves. Suele ser berilio para energías > 2 keV, con Si 3 N 4_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_available for lower energies. Detectors use reset style preamplifiers.
