EnergyLab XM is an application-specific XM instrument designed for battery, fuel cell, and supercapacitor research. EnergyLab XM's extreme sensitivity is used for advanced lithium-ion and alkaline battery testing . This includes research into next-generation low-impedance cell and half-cell configurations in the sub-100 μΩ range, as well as popular battery types, such as the 2032 coin cell test and the 18650 cell test.
EnergyLab XM includes a reference-grade potentiostat galvanostat, frequency response analyzer (FRA), auxiliary voltage channels, and a 2A amplifier . These features provide accuracy for the most common battery impedance and capacity (charge discharge) tests to measure nominal capacity (mA h) or the energy (watt hours) that a battery can deliver.
High current may be required to test the battery, either to fully charge or discharge the battery cell at a high discharge rate or to measure low impedance. Amplifiers can be connected external power supplies up to 100 A to EnergyLab XM. Our boosters are automatically controlled for fully integrated testing.
All modes (poteniotstat, galvanostat...boosted and not) make use of Solartron Analytical's unique auxiliary channel capability. These auxiliary channels can measure the nominal voltage at the battery terminals of a single cell in a stack or at the cell level at the anodes, cathodes, and separators. Simultaneous DC and impedance coordinate measurements can identify battery failure mode and predict battery life from the battery.
EnergyLab XM's impedance accuracy contour plot highlights Solartron's best-in-class measurement performance.
