CdTe Gamma and X-ray Detector

The CdTe detector is a thermoelectrically cooled X-ray detector available in various preamplifier configuration options. CdTe's high stopping power makes it excellent for applications requiring high detection efficiency at energies of up to 100 keV. Its performance, small size and low cost make it ideal for applications including monitoring of X-ray tubes and ED-XRF on the K lines of rare earth metals, lead, gold, uranium and other high Z materials.

 

Now available with 1 mil (25 µm) thick graphite windows, made from 100% carbon and equivalent in energy transmission to 4 mil (100 µm) Be windows.

 

The XR-100CdTe is a high-performance X-ray and gamma-ray detector, preamplifier, and cooler using a 5 x 5 x 1 mm cadmium telluride (CdTe) diode detector mounted on a two-stage thermoelectric cooler._cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_The XR-100-CdTe is capable of sensing energies from a few keV to several hundred keV, with efficiency peaking at 10 to 100 keV.

 

The PX5 provides better power to the XR-100CdTe. The PX5 is DC powered via an AC adapter and provides a variable digital pulse-shaping amplifier (0.2 µs to 100 µs max time) , the MCA function and all the necessary power supplies for the detector and the preamplifier. The PX5 connects via USB, RS-232 or Ethernet to a PC._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_The XR-100CdTe/PX5 system guarantees stable operation in less than a minute from power on.

 

The X-123CdTe combines Amptek's standard high-performance X-ray spectroscopy components: the CdTe detector, a preamplifier, a DP5 Digital Pulse Processor (DPP) and MCA, and a PC5 power supply in a single package.  The result is a complete integrated system that can fit in your hand.
